The Studio
Early mornings, long waits, and light that lasts a minute.
Every piece here begins in the field: in the Colorado high country, along rivers, at the edges of the day. The photographs are offered two ways: as fine-art prints exactly as they were captured, and developed into artwork carrying words of scripture and inspiration.
Gaze & Glory is a Colorado studio founded by Tom Bartel, a photographer whose own work sits in the gallery beside the artists it publishes.
How these are made
Everything here begins with a single original photograph, taken by the credited artist. Every other version of it, scripture or inspirational, is a rendition developed from that same photograph in our studio, using digital and AI tools, with the words composed over the finished picture.
- It starts with one photograph
- Every piece on this site traces back to a single original photograph taken by the artist credited on it, in the Colorado high country, along rivers, at the edges of the day. Nothing here is conjured from a text prompt out of nothing.
- The other versions are developed from it
- A photograph may be offered several ways. Beyond the print of the photograph itself, our studio develops renditions from that same original, choosing the medium, how far it should move from the source, and what in the frame must be preserved. The tools include AI image models, directed to hold the photograph's own composition, subject and geometry. It is that picture reinterpreted, not a new scene invented.
- The words are set last
- Scripture and quotations are composed over the finished picture, chosen and placed for that particular image rather than dropped into a template.
- What we do not claim
- No one paints these with a brush. And the original is never withheld: every photograph is sold exactly as it was captured, with nothing added, alongside whatever was developed from it.
