The story behind the photograph

Highway 52 in Boulder County near where I grew up in Colorado - I’ve taken a few shots of this barn before and it is always worth stopping when driving by in the morning or evening Golden Hour light. That was true on this occasion as the Golden Hour rays just washed over the valley and provided a wonderful backdrop. Flags on Barns are a must stop and shoot rule for a landscape photographer!”

A white gambrel-roofed barn with an American flag painted across its gable end stands behind steel corral fencing, with stubble fields in the foreground and layered foothills fading into haze behind. Low sun floods the sky with amber and washes the barn's boards in warm light, leaving the roof and fence rails in silhouette. A thin line of birds crosses the right of the frame, barely more than specks against the glare.
