A slow meadow stream winds through a high montane valley, a single granite boulder breaking the surface in the foreground while grasses and sedges hold the cut banks on either side. Conifer-covered ridges close the middle distance and a snow-streaked peak sits back in the gap, with a low sun burning through thin cloud just above the skyline. The light comes almost straight down the channel, flaring off the water and leaving the rock and the near banks in warm shadow.
