Holds a wall on its own, over a console or desk
31.5″ × 21.5″ on the wall, with the frame
Good detail. Made to be seen from a step or two back, as a piece this size usually is.

The piece was developed in our studio using digital and AI tools, and the same tools enlarged it for large-format printing. At these sizes fine detail is interpreted rather than photographed.

A single chicory stem stands at the left of the frame, one blue ray flower open and the remaining buds still closed and held tight against the stalk. Behind it the sky bands from a low white core of light through orange and yellow into slate-grey cloud, with the ground reduced to an unbroken dark line. The flower is lit only from behind, so its petals read as translucent colour against the burning band of the horizon.
Why these words
One small wildflower set against a sky that will be gone in minutes, and dark ploughland beyond it: the frame is about what lasts and what does not. It sits close to the steer without repeating it, since both look past the passing hour to what stands behind it.

The photograph that inspired this piece
It begins with an original photograph by Tom Bartel of a real place. This version was developed from that photograph in our studio, using digital and AI tools guided by the original’s own composition, and these words set over the finished picture. How these are made.
