The story behind the photograph

With the background of the Tetons you get a great prospective on how big they are with the large herd of elk in the foreground. What got my attention was the large population of elk . Also the different colors, foreground you have the browns and golden color from sunrise. Middle tier of Teton's you have green hues and then the snow on the Teton's. many textures in this composition.”

The Jackson Elk Herd, numbering around 11,000 animals, undertakes a major seasonal migration between the high-elevation summer ranges of Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and surrounding wilderness and the low-elevation winter refuge in the Jackson Hole valley. This was mid April in Grand Tetons National Park ,Early morning timeframe

Why these words

A scattered herd of elk grazing freely on open sagebrush flats beneath unfenced peaks is exactly the picture of animals that belong to no one but their Maker. The famous clause carries the sense of wild ownership without needing the rest of the psalm.

The photograph that inspired this piece

Jackson Elk Herd

It begins with an original photograph by Scott C Johnson of a real place. This version was developed from that photograph in our studio, using digital and AI tools guided by the original’s own composition, and these words set over the finished picture. How these are made.
