Two gray wolves stand shoulder to shoulder in snow-covered sagebrush, one gazing off to the right with its mouth slightly open, the other turned toward the camera with amber eyes. Flat winter overcast light keeps the tonal range soft, letting the grizzled grays and warm tans of their winter coats sit close to the bleached stems and pale snow behind them. The shallow focus holds the two heads sharp while the sage thins into haze at the edges of the frame.
